As we enter this playlist, think of it like the acceptance speech at an awards show, gotta get your 1st shout out God and Jesus, cause he’s number 1 in my life above all else. Transitioning into a mood ‘cause he knows his child, and her love of music, especially classics/oldies, but at the beginning of this playlist, we’ll dive head first with some Drake... can’t catch a vibe without Drake lol... some people say, “Drake is a college girls anthem,” not even a specific song, just Drake in general... I don’t know about you but for me... I don’t see the lie lol.

Continuing in the vibe is my now Saturday morning cleaning time go-to. Whether you are cleaning, reading, doing yoga, this is a song that you have to vibe to... productivity is happening!

Continuing in that masterpiece of a vibe we shift into Tadow by Masego. Fun fact, I met him at my church before I heard any of his music. This song is definitely something you can vibe to. Sliding just behind some Eric Bellinger with your favorite song to remind us that this list is a vibe.

As we travel through this playlist you’ll notice us slowly shifting back in time with Case’s  Lovely. This playlist is something you can listen to with your Auntie, your Mama, and your Grandmama, shout out to Granny... she inspires the remaining songs on this playlist.

Now, I grew up listening to oldies, my repertoire of music goes as far back as the 40s, maybe further but I won’t take you too far back. Growing up close to my grandparents, that was always what we listened to. I gained a love and appreciation for music, oldies, r&b, soul, blues. Grew up on Michael Jackson, the Commodores, Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Isley Brothers, Bill Withers, Betty Wright, and many more alike. Great music, greater memories.

For as long as I can remember, a whole persona comes out of me when listening to that music, or even just being in the presence of my Nana. I used to get with her and I would turn on this old lady voice and demeanor that came so naturally to me. It was like second nature, it would even come out around my friends. Another fun fact, in middle school they used to call me Grandma J, and it wasn’t to be rude it was just the persona that came out of me. I’d listen to those oldies to and from school daily, so much so that I played them all the time on my own.

Found some friends who also appreciated it and would jump on into character with me when necessary. I bring forward those memories and that persona with my latest renditions of Granny skits on insta and TikTok, and I allowed Granny to inspire the remainder of this playlist, cause I am her, and she is me. So as you listen to the rest of this playlist, let Granny come with you, shoot, share with yours if you will. Big shout out to my Nana and Pawpaw for inspiring this love of music R.I.P.
