Tommy Curry on Race and Enlightenment

In this talk delivered to the British Society for the History of Philosophy, Tommy Curry provocatively argues against the idea the the category of “human” was not fit for Black sentient subjects under enlightenment’s construction of the term.

Curry’s paper is thoroughly researched and flawlessly presented. More intriguing than the talk itself is the Q & A segment where he engages with questions from the audience. There’s a whole lot for listeners to take in and process in this one.

Take a look at the talk and let us know what you think in the comments. You can also purchase Curry’s book The Man-Not at the PAGES bookshop.
